Job Description
OVERVIEW:
The Wellness Manager commits to offering residents a lifestyle of balance of body and mind, improving their inner and outer health and beauty. Evolves and develops and innovates services by focusing on teamwork, training, and service excellence. Strives to surpass the expectations of the residents.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Manage and oversee the Fitness, Spa, Pools, and Juice Bar and all they entail.
- Acts as the DEM (Designated Establishment Manager
- Ensures the training of the Wellness staff exceeds standards.
- Ability to work with property management and department Leads to achieve the best possible learning for wellness staff.
- Curating monthly wellness related events and amenities that reflect the lifestyle and service levels of One Thousand Museum. Contributing marketing materials of such events to the monthly newsletter.
- Assisting in recruiting and hiring for all open positions.
- The ability to interview and select job applicants as well as effectively supervise, discipline, mentor and give performance evaluations for Wellness team.
- The ability to participate in regular staff meetings to keep employees informed of property policies and changes as well as ways to increase delivery of service.
- The ability to communicate with other departments to ensure a supporting team of professionals.
- The ability to communicate on all levels with staff, colleagues, and management.
- The ability to convey clear instructions and guidance to staff and establish working relationships that attain a high level of effective employee morale.
- The ability to identify potential talent internally and externally and develop tools to refine the selection and succession processes.
- The ability to mentor and develop the technical and assessment skills of staff to enhance service culture.
- Ability to manage and partner with all third-party vendors including personal trainers, service providers and contractors.
STANDARD DUTIES:
- The ability to work closely with Maintenance to ensure quality and mechanical operation of all Fitness and Spa equipment. This includes building strong relationships and rapport with existing and future vendors.
- The ability to oversee the cleanliness of the Fitness/Spa and coordinate special requirements with cleaning company, laundry process, and engineering.
- The ability to utilize all computer systems relevant to the department.
- The ability to ensure all equipment is kept in perfect working condition and reports any deficiencies to engineering and property management.
- The ability to anticipate, in advance, all materials and supplies necessary for the operation.
- The administration of inventory levels, storage and cost-effective usage of all department related materials and assets, according to standards.
- The ability to review products used and expiration dates.
- Expertise and diligence in conducting monthly, quarterly, and yearly inventory of towels, linen, supplies, professional and retail products.
- The ability to develop new treatments/concepts to continually keep the Spa at the forefront of the Residential market.
- The ability to perform other tasks or projects as assigned by General Manager.
- The ability to keep General Manager informed about the department, all employees' performance, and residents' concerns and comments.
- The ability to schedule staff and maintain payroll in accordance with budgeted guidelines.
- The ability to issue recommendations regarding the annual operating budget.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience:
- Prior experience in a spa or wellness environment.
- Prior experience in luxury hospitality highly preferred.
- Knowledge of various wellness and healing treatments.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Skills and Abilities:
- Preferably to have a massage or cosmetology active license from the State of Florida.
- Should be knowledgeable of MindBody platform.
- Needs to be fluent in Microsoft Office.
- Consistently exceeds expectations as Spa and Wellness Manager.
- Demonstrates superior knowledge of spa, wellness, and holistic modalities.
- Thorough knowledge of 5-star service standards, effective application of department standards, proven ability to create and implement spa service enhancements, effective inventory management, and demonstrated ability to project costs, and to adhere to the budget that supports monthly / annual financials.
- Strong delegation, leadership, and operational skills to effectively manage high-end performance.
- Proven leadership track record and luxury hospitality experience.
- Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, particularly important are an attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to set priorities and adjust to changing work conditions to function well under pressure.
ENVIRONMENT (Physical Job Requirements):
This position requires a considerable amount of physical activity; should be able to
- Lift/Push/Pull/Carry objects up to 50lbs
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel and climb stairs throughout full shift
- Work a full shift standing
- Ability to work outside pool area
- Ability to work with chemical/agents
- Ability to wear protective gear required for cleaning
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including weekends, and holidays as needed
- Hearing/speech/vision/literacy ability to have one-on-one communication with resident/guests and employees.
- Perform job functions and duties as assigned
- Ability to function under pressure, set priorities and adjust to changing conditions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of successful spa management experience.
- Bilingual: English and Spanish highly preferred
- Event management is a plus.
- Knowledge of retail operations and inventory systems.
- Effective leadership skills and a strong work ethic.
- Customer service experience, preferably in a spa.
- Ability to explain various treatments/services to guests.
- Excellent customer service skills and work ethic.
- Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously.
- Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational.
- Professional manner, discretion, and appearance.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
- Must have a current CPR certification, and ensure that all others on team do, as well.
- Must be comfortable with product recommendation.
- Excellent customer service skills.
