The VP will be a solid and unwavering champion and advocate for their team members and for Associa.
The VP position is a key executive position within Associa Hawaii, and the successful
candidate shall be expected to be a Community Association Professional who is a self-starter, a motivator, highly professional, organized, and detailed oriented.
VP Job Expectations and Deliverables
The following items should be provided on a scheduled and consistent basis. The VP is
responsible for ensuring that their own deliverable items, as well as their team deliverable
items are delivered timely. The use of consistent and standardized forms and reporting
throughout the team is critical. Associa Hawaii provides these standards.
- Team meetings. VP will hold regular team meetings with NI and Oahu team to discuss performance, provide feedback, create an open and honest environment for feedback, and provide educational and training opportunities.
- Board meeting attendance. VP will be expected to attend Board meetings on a
regular basis.
- Follow-up and spot communication with Board Presidents and key Board members.
Regular “Touch Base” calls help backup the NI, Oahu Directors, and CAM’s and ensure
our standards are being met. Boards want to be valued and the VP will provide key
support in this area to strengthen Board-Associa relationships.
- VP will ensure the NI and Oahu Directors are providing their teams with key-component monthly deliverables as described in the Community Director Job Description.
- Disciplinary process and escalation. The VP will be responsible for direct oversight of the NI and Oahu Directors (and CAMs where required) and reporting back to the Branch President if any disciplinary concerns arise. Any disciplinary warnings shall be discussed with the Branch President and HR Director before action is taken. All disciplinary action must be documented in writing and saved in employee file.
- Vacation and back-filling. Where necessary, VP will assist in coverage of Director and CAM vacations and any open positions created by growth or vacancies.
- Business Development. VP will partner with the sales & marketing, and integrated services to find and develop business opportunities
- Individual Island Pillar Performance. The VP shall review NI and Oahu pillar performance on a monthly basis with the Branch President to ensure annual targets in morale, retention, growth and profitability are being met.
- NI Travel. You will be expected to travel between the islands on a regular basis, with at least one trip expected per month.
- Understanding of local statutes and regulations. The VP and the Performance Planning & Review (PPR) Process
VP is to ensure that Direct Reports and other team members are supported in their own
individual growth and development. This is the best way to maintain employee morale and
ensure we retain our team members and keep them engaged. To support this development,
the VP will be responsible for working with each team member one-on-one to develop
individual goals and provide ongoing support using the Associa PPR process. It is critical to the
VP’s success, and that of their team members, that this process is viewed as collaborative and developmental, and not as a “form-filling exercise”. VP will receive high levels of ongoing
support and training from the executive team throughout the PPR process.
Through regular meetings the VP should use the PPR process to help their Direct Reports
develop skills as outlined in the Associa Hawaii PPR Core Value Goal Guidance:
- Unrivaled Retention
- Obsessive Service
- Innovative Solutions
- Dynamic Growth
- Bold Performance
How will the Community VP be supported at Associa Hawaii?
Because the VP will be relied upon to support his/her team, it is equally important that the
VP receives the support they need. As a VP you will have direct one-on-one support from the Executive Team and receive regular coaching and mentoring sessions to improve and develop your leadership skills.
