We are looking for a passionate and tenured product leader to join our Investment Manager team at AppFolio. We are building the premier software platform for managing real estate investments across asset classes and expanding AppFolio’s reach in the real estate market.

Our product management team is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and execution of new products and services for the investment management industry. Our work impacts the day-to-day lives of millions of people who use our software or interact with the properties run by our customers. We are champions, go-getters, and big thinkers. In this role, you will own one of our product focus areas, leading discovery and development for two engineering teams in your area. You will be instrumental to our product development organization by gathering relevant market and customer insights, leveraging strong business acumen, casting vision, and driving product objectives through partnership across the organization. Your goal is to ensure our organization achieves our key objectives and your engineering team(s) implement effective solutions that delight customers, win prospects, and meet stakeholder requirements. As a Staff Product Manager, you are an expert in your craft, have a proven track record of shipping great products, and are able to lead complex and high-stakes product initiatives with poise.

You must be located in or willing to relocate to Santa Barbara, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Continually gather feedback from customers and prospective customers to inform product strategy & improvements
  • Master our product capabilities and be able to support and demonstrate it internally & externally
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers and industry, serving as an internal & external expert
  • Own a key product focus area, developing a vision, roadmap, and strategy to meet your KPIs
  • Collaborate with teammates to craft elegant solutions to customer and business problems
  • Partner effectively with internal stakeholders in customer service, sales, and marketing to drive product outcomes and business results
  • Conduct agile methodology including planning, grooming, retrospectives, etc
  • Coordinate & lead customer interviews, both over the phone and in-person, to deepen personal and organizational understanding of our customers’ needs and desires
  • Collect & analyze data about customers, market, and product usage to inform priorities and measure success
  • Prepare & deliver clear, compelling presentations to customers, colleagues, and superiors
  • Travel to customer events & industry trade shows at least once per quarter, including speaking or sitting on panels to build industry credibility and relationships
  • Partner with product & engineering leadership to own & refine a product strategy in service of business goals
  • Identify, vet, and drive key growth initiatives through new product development, partnerships, and/or acquisition opportunities


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8+ years of direct product management experience
  • Solid track record of successfully delivering critical product and business outcomes
  • Experience working collaboratively with software development teams
  • Proven ability to lead and partner with senior leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required
  • Direct experience in a B2B SaaS company and/or real estate background is a plus

  • Analytical skills and data-driven mindset, ability to write SQL is a plus


Compensation & Benefits

The base salary that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $155,000 - $230,000.

The actual base salary for this role may vary greatly to account for the wide range of skills, experience, and qualifications that candidates may possess at this level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary expectations during the hiring process.

Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
