The SEC Reporting and Sr. Technical Accounting Manager to own the SEC reporting process and serve as the technical accounting subject matter expert.
Your impact
- Work cross-functionally on SEC reporting matters for preparation and review of financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A, and relevant disclosure checklists.
- Drive the quarterly drafting and review cycle, including the quarterly disclosure committee meetings and meetings with the leaders of the business functions.
- Act as AppFolio’s technical accounting subject matter expert. Perform research and draft memos for technical accounting matters.
- Oversight technical revenue accounting. Provide technical guidance to operationalize revenue accounting policy
- Be on the leading edge' of new accounting pronouncements and training executives and finance organization on changes and impact
- Develop strong cross-functional relationships and serve as a business partner during the negotiation of transactions to ensure desired accounting outcomes
- Draft, update and maintain the Company’s accounting policies
Qualifications

- Connector: Earns trust and maintains confidences across and between dedicated team members and AppFolio. Establishes collaborative working relationships.
- Attention to Detail /Action Oriented: Does not let important details slip through the cracks. Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines effectively with a bias for action, operates with urgency, driven to “do” great work.
Must have
- 7-10 years of relevant work experience, big 4 public accounting firm experience preferred
- Experience working for a public company, preferably in the technology industry
- A strong understanding of GAAP and experience utilizing an accounting research software to research GAAP guidance. Strong knowledge in ASC 606
- A clear understanding of SEC Rules and guidance with the ability to research and apply rules.
- Assembling financial statements, footnotes and disclosures within SEC filings
- Comprehensive experience drafting accounting memos.
- BS degree in accounting and/or business.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- Experience using financial reporting software such as Workiva, WDesk, Edgar Filings Online
- Experience with working with external auditors and legal counsel, as well as all departments across an organization
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle several projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and team-oriented.
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $132,000 - $198,000
The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.
Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
