Who Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a customer-obsessed Senior Product Manager - Service Foundations to lead innovation in foundational infrastructure. The Service Foundations (SF) team unlocks innovation via cloud services (AWS ECS) and accelerates growth within our platform-first (API-first) development ecosystem. The SF team improves service ownership practices across AppFolio by advocating for the developer (our customer) and reducing friction across our service ecosystem. The SF team also transfers and/or absorbs operational responsibilities for essential (foundation) services. This is a multi-faceted role spanning services in search, information architecture, entitlements, authentication, authorization, message queueing, and service infrastructure.

You will lead the product charter for ensuring all teams can “Build the Platform as a Product.” You will ensure teams can deliver a collection of shared tools, services, and components that achieve product market fit across AppFolio. Our technology platform is built on a foundation of highly-available cloud services, self-service APIs, shared tools, knowledge and support that the entire ecosystem can utilize to create high-quality solutions and experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to building and delivering the vision, strategy, and product roadmap for Service Foundations guiding principles that steers APM product teams to build platform-first.
• Inspire and motivate a team of senior engineers to achieve ambitious outcomes, removing obstacles along the way
• Work closely with cross-functional teams from engineering, data science, design, marketing, customer success, finance, legal and more
• Understand and influence the roadmaps of other product teams and our broader product strategy
• Clearly communicate product plans, benefits and results, as appropriate, to a spectrum of audiences, from internal partners to APM executives, employees to customers
• Make tradeoff decisions based on technical and business insights and experimentation
• Dive deep into the technical details of our infrastructure stack, mastering its intricacies to make data-driven decisions
• Collaborate with engineers to build scalable systems and novel control solutions that customers and internal teams interact with daily
• Supervise and measure launched products and feed insights back into product development process to drive growth
  
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• You have a track record of shipping great experiences that lead to discovery and high adoption in a role similar to this one
• You have experience understanding needs of internal teams and can create leverage across teams through building reusable capabilities
• You are customer-obsessed and want to spend a ton of time with customers and developers so that you can reduce friction and increase availability across the AppFolio ecosystem
• You know when to rely on intuition and when to rely on data
• You truly care about the business results of what you build, not just the elegance of the technology
• You are an excellent verbal and written communicator
• You’re technical enough that the engineers you work with regularly forget you're a PM
• You thrive in a cross-functionally collaborative environment. You will work closely with functions like sales, marketing, customer success, engineering, design, and finance.
• You are intellectually curious and fascinated by innovative businesses, how they grow, and the technology they need to accelerate that growth

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $138,400 - $173,000. The actual compensation for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, education, experience, and internal equity.

Please note that compensation is just one aspect of a comprehensive Total Rewards package. The compensation range listed here does not include additional benefits or any discretionary bonuses you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
