The Senior Manager, Application Security is responsible for overseeing AppFolio’s world-class Application Security team, ensuring that AppFolio’s software products and features are secure, and supporting the Security Software Development team tasked with creating software to empower Product Engineering and Information Security teams.

Your impact

• Manage a world-class Application Security team and drive their continued success.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Product Development to ensure that software products and features are built and deployed securely.
• Guide the Security Software Development Team to impactful projects that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Security Teams and help Product Engineering teams adopt the principles of security by design.
• Lead and improve upon AppFolio’s robust Threat Modeling process.
• Identify and mitigate software vulnerabilities in AppFolio products.
  
  

Qualifications

• Makes decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure. Decisions are made based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
• Speaks and writes clearly and articulately without being overly verbose or talkative. Maintains this standard in all forms of written communications, including email.

Must have

• 3 or more years experience on a high-performing Application Security team.
• 2 or more years experience as a manager of technical employees.
• Familiarity with common Web Application Security vulnerabilities (such as the OWASP Top Ten).
  
  

Nice to have

• Formal education in Information Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems.
• Experience working with large-scale Ruby on Rails applications.
• Experience with Software maturity frameworks (e.g. OWASP SAMM)
  
  

The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $155,000 to $255,000.

The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.

Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
