What You’ll Do

The AppFolio Payments Risk Operations Team goal is to evaluate AppFolio’s risk and develop scalable, effective, and efficient ways to manage and address risks and suspicious activity while maximizing AppFolio’s performance and goals. Sr. Fraud Analyst supports the Payments team in making money move in real estate safely and sustainably. As a Sr. Fraud Analyst on the Payments team at Appfolio, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Risk, Fraud, Compliance, and industry trends to effectively mitigate risk and reduce fraud loss exposure.
  • Be an active participant and owner of protecting AppFolio from financial crime risk. Have a clear understanding of the company’s product and the importance of safe and sustainable initiatives as a member of the frontline team.
  • Support Risk and Fraud analysts in accurately addressing concerns or suspicions that require further investigation.
  • Perform detailed analysis on generated cases for potential fraud schemes.
  • Resolve high risk alerts within service level agreements to mitigate potential loss.
  • Act and own customer communications as the first line of defense for safe and sustainable payments.
  • Communicates effectively and confidently and is comfortable engaging all clients.
  • Serve as primary fraud contact on assigned caseload.
  • Provide accurate responses to customers through phone and email.
  • Clearly document customer account activities thoroughly and precisely.
  • Set priorities and manage customer expectations to minimize escalations.
  • Has the ability to learn and adapt to new information and technology platforms.
  • Evaluate and identify fraud patterns and communicate observations and opportunities to analysts.
  • Effectively implement problem solving techniques and innovative ideas that will benefit the operational efficiency of the team.

Must-Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.
  • 4+ years of previous Payments, Risk, Fraud, Fintech, or Compliance experience.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, Tableau, and Office Suites.
  • Payments certifications such as: Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Certified Anti-Money Laundering (CAMS), Certified Payments Professional (CPP)
  • Law enforcement or fraud investigations experience
  • Previous experience writing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)

The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $80,000.00 - $119,000.00.

The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.

Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
