Job Summary:
Marina Grande on the Halifax Security ensures the highest possible level of customer service is offered to residents, guests, employees, contractors, vendors and service providers. Security is responsible for meeting, greeting, and registering guests and residents, as well as maintaining the safety of the property. Security accurately maintains daily logs, records, and forms. They must be able to understand and react to emergencies and operate electronic security control systems. Security reports to the Security Supervisor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates excellent customer service, communication, and time management skills.
- Monitors and operates Electronic Security Control Systems and Emergency Response Systems.
- Responds to emergencies in a timely manner.
- Monitors and controls access to the building.
- Maintains a safe and secure environment throughout the building/property.
- Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment.
- Works shifts that are subject to change based on property needs.
- Needs to read and understand First Service Residential Handbook/Security Standard Operating Procedures.
- Must be aware of your surroundings, especially gate arms left on the open position.
- Assist gate attendant when breaks is needed. (Bathroom Breaks). Rover Checklist:
- A total of at least 8 patrols of the entire property (interior and exterior) are expected throughout an eight-hour shift.
- Ensure there is a record of your patrol either through you daily log.
- Check and ensure that all specify doors are secured and in good working order. Report defects on a maintenance request.
- Check all cars (lights on, doors open, etc.). Report findings to owners to ensure nothing was taken.
- Check and ensure that all property stairwell and fire exits are free from obstructions.
- Check and ensure that all fire alarm and pull stations are free from obstruction.
- Report any unusual incidents by writing an incident report.
- Report any lights that are out.
- Communication must be maintained in a professional manner with residents, guests, vendors, and fellow associates
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
- Attends Security staff meetings
- May be assigned other duties by the on-site Community Association Manager.
- All employees are required to check in with the Property Management during the issuance of a Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watch or Warning.
- While on duty or on property, all Security Officers must be in full uniform and maintain a neat appearance of the dress code. This includes pressed clothing, matching belt and shoes, clean hygiene and neat grooming. Refer to our Dress Code in the Associate Handbook for additional information about our guidelines and standards.
- Security Officers are required to have their nametag, ID badge & security badge displayed at all times while on duty.
- Be courteous and respectful to their fellow employees, residents and guests.
- Contact the Team Lead/Site Supervisor & Management Office if they will be tardy or absent. All call outs should be at least (4) four hours before schedule start of your shift.
- Maintain assigned areas in a clean, neat and safe condition.
- Safety procedures must be maintained and adhered to at all time. Any safety issues, concerns or irregularities must be brought to the attention of the Property Manager and Site Supervisor/Security Manager immediately. Complete an Incident Report. Incident reports must be completed in their entirety and signed before the end of your shift.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings unless approved by supervisor/Security Manager to be excused.
- Supervise all move in and out, deliveries and check on the status of all unit owner construction, ensuring that everything proceeds smoothly according to the property regulations.
- Document and report any damage to common areas immediately to the Property Manager and Site Supervisor.
- Assist all unit owners, residents and guests in a courteous, helpful manner; referring all questions that cannot be handled to the Management Office for further assistance.
- At the beginning and end of each shift, check the Fire Alarm Panel, ensuring that it is operational. Report any troubles in writing to the Property Manager and Site Supervisor/Security Manager immediately.
- Check fire extinguishers while on patrol, to ensure the safety pin is intact.
- Check stairwell for any fire, safety hazards and document it.
- Assist the Property Manager and Administrative Assistant as needed.
- Respond to any mechanical, medical or police emergencies and assist as necessary.
- This position requires being properly relieved before the end of the shift. If the relieving Security Officer does not report to work on time, the on-duty Security Officer must stay on duty until relief arrives.
- May be assigned other duties by the on-site Community Association Manager or Site Supervisor/Security Manager.
Education & Experience:
- Must have High School diploma or equivalency.
- 1-3 years’ experience in Customer Service environment.
- Hotel, Country Club, or Resort experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows software, online ordering platforms, and inventory controls.
- Must be willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
- Ability to follow instructions and carry them out in the absence of General Manager.
- Communication skills (listening, verbal, and written).
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Problem solving skills, ability to use common sense.
- Team player but can work independently
Tools & Equipment Used:
Computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, usual office equipment and hand tools.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
- Be Available 24/7. Be flexible to changes in schedule and shifts
- Ability to lift 30 – 50 lbs.
- Work in an upright, standing, or sitting position for long periods of time;
- Handle, grasp, and lift objects and packages;
- Reach with hands and arms;
- Communicate, receive, and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word;
- Ability to quickly and easily navigate the building/property as required to meet the job functions;
- Complete all required forms;
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends based on building requirements;
- Ability to respond to emergencies and callouts in a timely manner;
