Summary

The Food & Bar Runner is responsible for efficiently delivering food and beverages from the kitchen or bar to the dining area, ensuring timely service and customer satisfaction. This role involves interacting with both the kitchen and service staff to ensure that guests receive their orders correctly and promptly.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Deliver food and beverages from the kitchen or bar to the dining area promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure that all orders are complete and meet the restaurant’s quality standards before delivering to the table.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and bar staff to track and expedite orders.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining the dining area, including restocking supplies and arranging tables as needed.
  • Handle guest requests and concerns with professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Support waitstaff and other team members during busy periods by providing additional assistance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the service areas, including clearing and resetting tables.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a clean and safe environment for both staff and guests.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or in a customer service environment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and remain calm under pressure.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and carry heavy trays or supplies.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Language Skills

The individual must have strong written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with employees and clients at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.

Availability

Varied working hours to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Subject to callback during emergency conditions (severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)

Work Environment

The server works in a well-lighted, clean environment. S/he constantly interacts with other people and may have to handle several responsibilities at once.
