Overview
A Road Maintenance Worker is responsible for the repair, upkeep, and overall maintenance of roads, highways, and related infrastructure. The job involves manual labor, operating machinery, and ensuring road safety for drivers and pedestrians.
Work Environment
Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
Potential exposure to hazardous materials and heavy traffic.

Inspect roads, bridges, and drainage systems for damage or wear.
Repair potholes, cracks, and road surfaces using asphalt, concrete, and other materials.
Operate and maintain road construction equipment such as graders, rollers, and dump trucks.
Clear debris, snow, and fallen trees from roads to ensure safe passage.
Install and repair road signs, guardrails, and traffic control devices.
Perform routine maintenance on drainage systems and culverts.
Paint road markings and apply safety barriers.
Follow safety regulations and guidelines to prevent accidents.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Ability to operate heavy machinery and power tools.
Knowledge of road construction materials and techniques.
Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance.
Understanding of traffic control and safety procedures.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
A valid driver’s license (CDL may be required for some positions).
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience in construction, roadwork, or related fields is beneficial.
On-the-job training is usually provided.
