Job Description
The Road Crew Member is responsible for maintaining all road surfaces throughout the community to include grading, ditching, clearing and installing culverts, maintaining shoulders on asphalt sections, temporary patching of asphalt road sections, and clearing fallen trees onto roadways to ensure the roads are safe to travel. During winter months the Road Crew Member is responsible to plow all roads in the community as determined by rules and regulations and supervisor. Road Crew Members will also assist in maintaining common areas, front gate, office, and maintenance buildings. Members will assist with other tasks in community, determined by supervisor, management, and the Board of Directors.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Grading dirt road as needed/scheduled.
- Plow all roads in community to ensure all asphalt sections remain plowed and salted from 5:00am to 10:00pm.
- Maintaining shoulders of asphalt roads as needed/scheduled.
- Creating and maintaining water ditches next to roadways to keep water from damaging roads.
- Maintain culverts as needed/scheduled.
- Weekly grooming of snowmobile easement during winter. Spring and fall maintenance of easement.
- General maintenance of common areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
- Professional communication skills (phone, interpersonal, written, verbal, etc.).
- Ability to operate snowplow equipment.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Ability to problem-solve and follow direction.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
Education and Experience:
- High school or equivalent is required.
- Training on plow operations, large equipment experience or training is preferred.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid CDL driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to inclement weather
- Exposure to loud noise and vibration from machinery
- Exposure to hazardous work conditions, (i.e. traffic, workplace chemicals)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis
- Frequent social interaction
