Description

Position Summary:

The Recreation Center Director oversees all recreation center operations, including front desk services, events, outdoor grill, fitness center, pool, and facilities. They coordinate with multiple teams to ensure excellent customer service, efficient and budget-compliant operations, and adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards. The role includes managing staff hiring, training, scheduling, and performance, as well as maintaining a strong partnership with the Board of Directors. Overall, the Director ensures all services align with the Association’s goals and objectives.

Position Responsibilities

  • Handle day to day needs and requests by front desk staff keeping the Community Manager informed as needed.
  • Monitor front desk, pools, exercise equipment area, aerobic/dance studio, locker rooms, multipurpose rooms and outdoor sports area for safety and facility condition.
  • Assist in compiling month end reporting for individual departments within the Recreation Center.
  • Respond to emergency situation per First Aid/CPR training and/or facility procedures as necessary. CPR certification required.
  • Coordinates and directs the work of the front desk team with other divisions to ensure a harmonious working relationship.
  • Handles escalated customer service issues prior to escalation to the Community Manager.
  • Review time off requests, fill empty shifts & writes weekly front desk staff schedule, providing it to the Community Manager.
  • Work with the Community Manager on the New Resident Orientation.
  • Become knowledgeable of and implement all operating manuals provided by the Association and in compliance with all regulatory requirements pertaining to health, hygiene, and safety. Develops and promotes related awareness, inspection, and remedial action programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Front Desk

  • Responsible to supervise, train and direct the front desk staff incorporating the following:
  • Cultivate total customer satisfaction and customer service-oriented concepts and philosophies.
  • Greets and checks-in residents and guests at the front desk and answer incoming telephone calls.
  • Advises residents and guests of policies and procedures.
  • Performs and adheres to opening and closing procedures.
  • Operates computer programs for processing of program registration, facility reservations, community membership card activations, guest passes, etc.
  • Monitors and maintains the organization and cleanliness of the area assigned to work - lobby, front desk, fitness and multipurpose rooms.
  • Responds to emergency situations as directed.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to operate a personal computer, printer, calculator, telephone, and various other standard business equipment.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English in a clear and understandable manner voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
  • Ability to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and with good reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays.
  • Ability to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
  • Ability to remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Capable of working extended hours, to include evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 45 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.
  • Must be able to work indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting, to an outdoors setting with variable climate and lighting.
  • Must be able to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods of time.
