Job Description

Responsible for enforcing pool safety rules in all pool areas.  Primary responsibility is the maintenance and cleanliness of pool and deck areas. Able to understand and react to emergency response procedures; monitors safety and security of all pool users and responsible for reporting and documenting any safety or accident concerns.

The Deck or Pool Attendant also provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group.  He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service as it relates to this function. This includes working interdepartmentally, as well as, with our external customers.

 

  • Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere for guests in all areas by expressing an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Greeting guests, and answering any questions
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
  • Provide safety and guest relationships through regular supervision and engagement
  • Observe activity in the recreational facility and respond appropriately in accordance with local operating procedure in the event of an emergency.
  • Anticipate and address guests’ service needs; assist individuals with disabilities

 

Safety:

  • Ensuring that guests adhere to all safety rules
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; CPR/AED training and certifications
  • Aid injured guests until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Be aware of possible situations where guests are not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager.
  • Ensuring the safety and comfort of pool guests
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Ensure equipment is available and in working order
  • Ensure appropriate number of people can get on slides
  • Ensure children are the appropriate height for rides
  • Explain safety procedures to riders

 

Quality control/Cleanliness:

  • Follow company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
  • Preserve pool cleanliness.
  • Clear the pool deck.
  • Gathering lost and found items.
  • Visually inspect poolside tools, equipment, and slides (e.g., to identify defects).
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the area surrounding the pool.

 

Skills:

  • CPR Certification is required.
  • The ability to interact and engage with guest of varying age group.
  • Strong microphone skills.
  • Maintain professional attire and personal hygiene
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks, a in a helpful demeanor
  • Expected to be strong swimmers and able to interact well with the public
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Assist person(s) with a disability.
  • Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
  • Interact with guests at different events and locations around the resort.
  • Be a reliable source of contact and information for our guests.
  • Knows all safety and emergency procedures and is aware of accident prevention policies.
  • Consistently deliver positive, courteous and professional guest service in all interactions with guests.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate, which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.

Other Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Entice patrons to participate in activities.
  • Aid patrons entering and exiting slides.
  • Running or assisting patrons at an event or performance.
  • Promote the rules and regulations of the recreation facility.
  • Supervise game play and award prizes.
  • Maintain daily operations of the pool.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
  • Responsible for organizing or supervising activities during events.
  • Prepare opening and closing procedures.
  • Describe club house amenities to patrons.
  • Set up, break down games and signage.
  • Assist team in trash and chair resets on pool grounds.

 

Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses:

High school diploma or equivalency preferred. May require Certified Pool Operator certification.

May require CPR and/or Lifeguard certification.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

One (1) to Two (2) years of related work experience. Strong working knowledge of customer service principles and practices. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

Computer literacy:

Intermediate command of computer hardware/software is required; specifically, knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.    Experience in maintaining a website is desired

Language requirements:

Bilingual preferred but not required.

Travel and availability requirements:

May be required to travel for training sessions off-site on an ad-hoc basis.  May be occasionally required to cover for site staff when needed.

Ability to work extended hours and weekends. Ability to respond to emergencies in a prompt and responsible manner.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.; work in an upright standing or sitting position for long periods of time, may fluctuate. May handle, grasp and lift objects and packages. Reach with hands and arms, communicate, receive and exchange ideas and information.

Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions; complete all required forms.

Safety Equipment (may/may not include):

  • Protective Gloves and Glasses when using hazardous materials when cleaning the pool (Must be CPO Certified).
  • Anti-Slip Shoes
  • Sun Protection

Working Conditions:

The majority of work will be completed outdoors in a non-temperature controlled environment with moderate noise levels.
