Master Plumber – Residential High Rise

SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to repair, maintain and replace as required all plumbing for a high-rise condominium ( water, sewer, and gas lines.) Must have master plumbing license. Must ensure that all plumbing codes are satisfied and apply for permits with the town when applicable. The position is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and on call 24/7 for emergencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.

Job Tasks Descriptions:

  • Repairs and replaces damaged black pipe. Repair plan for full replacement of all risers. Repair or replace water lines, domestic recirculation lines, and sewer lines.
  • Unclog sewers, building drains, storm drains, faucets and plumbing fixtures in the units and common areas as directed. Ensure all clogs or repairs are handled promptly.
  • Install new plumbing fixtures as directed and as needed.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies for routine repairs. All supplies are purchased by the building.
  • Performs routine inspections and perform preventative maintenance required on all building piping / water supply and return and drainage.
  • Works with the current building staff including superintendent and assistance to respond to emergency plumbing related calls 24/7. Management determines if repair can be isolated by staff on site and held off until the next day and/or business day.
  • Proactively recommend repair needs to potentially eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
  • Ensure all in unit repairs are done proper protection and cleaning after the job is completed.
  • Assist with staff on other repairs such as closing holes- sheetrock, spackle and paint after repairs other trades with piping and repair issues.
  • Winterize piping where needed.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record required.
  • Valid NJ Master Plumber License
  • Backflow Prevention Certification
  • Asbestos Training

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to perform math computations needed in trade.
  • English language skills. Must be able to exchange information in person, in writing, and via telephone.
  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills, preferably buildinglink experience.
  • Ability to promote and follow policies and building and management
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the management.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations. Must be able to read and apply blueprints / schematics and specifications
  • . Operating knowledge of general plumbing repair and maintenance equipment and efficient use of repair parts and tools required for hire.
