Job Description

Job Title: Lifestyle Manager

 

Reports to: General Manager

 

Location: Apple Valley, CA

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

This position is responsible for the oversight of the Solera at Apple Valley Community Association (SAVCA) events and activities and will promote and facilitate the active adult experience through community lifestyle events and programs. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination and oversight of creative, customized community events, resident engagement/volunteer activities, and resident led clubs, and recreational programs to enhance the lifestyle experience of the residents.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develop, coordinate and implement customized intimate and large-scale community events to ensure intergenerational and neighbor to neighbor interactions creating a unique lifestyle for the residents
  • Ensure accurate documentation for all community event and recreational program plans, vendor contacts, budgets, event summary reports, etc., as required in the standardized format using FSR best practices and templates
  • Ensure timely and accurate reports to supervisor, and others as requested
  • Ensure approved vendors are compliant with insurance requirements and provide oversight of all vendors for events and programs to include review of all vendor invoices prior to payment
  • Monitor and oversee the master community event and activities calendar as needed and ensure accuracy for posting on the community monitors and website
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors of Solera at Apple Valley Community Association, and other identified community partners to tap resources that will provide added value to the event activities
  • Monitor monthly expenditures of all community events, activities, recreational programs, etc. to ensure management of expenses, accurate coding and compliance to budget limits
  • Support volunteer committee(s) and resident led clubs
  • Attend and participate in SAVCA Board meetings as required
  • Produce & distribute community events /activities and recreational programs content for website updates, eblasts, newsletter and social media platforms
  • Ensure the representation of a positive organizational image to residents, business partners, community organizations and surrounding communities
  • Develop the appropriate procedures in written format that will facilitate the successful day-today operations
  • Create the annual SAVCA working budget in partnership with the General Manager
  • Support the General Manager with operations administrative tasks of SAVCA

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Schedule and deploy Facility Monitor & Front Desk staff appropriately based upon community activity and budget guidelines
  • Mentor, train and develop staff to create accountability, growth & bench strength
  • Maintain communication with GM & HR regarding staffing concerns

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Must possess charisma and ability to develop positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Must possess strong administrative skills to include organizational, prioritization and time management skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task
  • Must possess strong ethical practices
  • Must possess budgetary knowledge and control for the purpose(s) of executing community events, programs and communication expenses
  • Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and implement the ideas of the team
  • Must possess the ability to think and work independently with self-direction to ensure success as a team
  • Must possess the use of good judgment, critical thinking, and business “savvy”

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 4-year college degree preferred, with hospitality, non-profit special events or recreation management emphasis or equivalent work experience; plus 2-4 years’ experience in the events/recreation field, nonprofit management, city government community services, and/or community management field
  • Demonstrated commitment to continual learning as evidenced by attendance at seminars/ industry workshops, either as an attendee or as a guest speaker
  • Proven track record of non-profit special event coordination and operations management in the charitable non-profit field a plus
  • Experience in the implementation of content to website, eblasts, newsletter and social media platforms

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

  • Valid California driver’s license required with state mandated vehicle insurance

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 

  • Proficient in English
  • Bilingual Spanish or other language is helpful

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

 

  • Must be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner both in written and verbal form to connect with clients, vendors and co-workers whether in person, via telephone, text or email

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Must be able to lift 35lbs.
  • Must be mobile enough to move around office and community to monitor all facility programming or outside events, including walking on uneven surfaces and standing for long periods of time (typically up to 4 hours at a time)
  • Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time (around the pool or during events and activities)
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to handle pressure and deadlines related to the job
  • Must have use of reliable transportation in order to run errands and travel to various FSR locations

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

The work environment characteristics are both resort quality amenities (pool, ballroom, game room, gym, etc.) and normal office conditions at an onsite community facility. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Consistent and regular attendance required
  • Hours over and above normal office hours will occur, including evenings, weekends and some holidays, based on business needs
