Responsibilities
Position Overview: As the Risk Management Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the General Counsel and legal team in effectively managing legal operations within the organization. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around litigation tracking, monitoring legal expenses, and facilitating coordination amongst various departments including Insurance, Operations, Human Resources, and outside counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
Litigation Tracking:
Monitor and track all ongoing litigation matters involving the company.
Maintain accurate records of case status, deadlines, and developments.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation for litigation purposes.
Contract Tracking:
Create and monitor a corporate contract repository.
Establish a reporting methodology for ensuring compliance with the terms of contracts.
Coordinate with other departments to support renegotiations of contracts as needed.
Legal Expense Management:
Track legal expenses and budgets associated with litigation, regulatory compliance, and other legal matters.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies for optimizing legal expenditures.
Prepare regular reports and analyses of legal spending for management review.
Coordination with Departments:
Act as a liaison between the legal department and other company departments including Insurance, Operations, Sales, and Human Resources.
Facilitate communication and collaboration on legal matters, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.
Provide guidance and support to departmental stakeholders on legal processes and procedures, including strategies for risk mitigation.
External Counsel Management:
Assist in the selection and retention of outside counsel.
Coordinate with external legal resources to ensure timely and efficient handling of legal matters.
Monitor the performance of outside counsel and evaluate their effectiveness in meeting the company’s needs.
Compliance Support:
Assist in the development and implementation of compliance programs and initiatives.
Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards impacting the company.
Support internal audits and investigations as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or certification is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal operations role within a corporate legal department or law firm.
Strong understanding of legal processes, procedures, and terminology.
Proficiency in legal research, document management, and data analysis.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities and the ability to work independently.
Experience with contract management software and other relevant technology platforms.

$60,000-$70,000, depending on education and experience.
