AppFolio is looking for a Learning & Development Manager to join our team on a temporary basis, to provide coverage and support while one of our team members is on leave. The role will start immediately, and is planned to end in mid-April 2023.

In this role, you will take the lead on organizing and delivering manager development programs, and providing expert support for learning content creation, facilitation, and program management.

What You’ll Do

Deliver AppFolio’s front-line manager development programs. We invest a lot in developing our managers, and need a strong facilitator and program manager to maintain high quality delivery of these programs. You will assume ownership of our [email protected] cohort-based program for new managers, which consists of a series of 8 workshops on core managerial competencies. In addition, you’ll coordinate the offering of additional workshops available to all people managers, as well as the logistics, communications, and vendor management processes related to these programs.

Provide content creation, facilitation, and project management for key L&D team programs. In addition to taking the lead on our manager programs, we’ll rely on you to support other learning programs we offer, including a wide range of topics and audiences across the business, from new hires to senior leaders. We’ll look to you to serve as an expert resource on learning design and facilitation, to provide advice and consulting to colleagues within and outside the HR team.

Ensure top-notch delivery of L&D logistics and communications. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality programs with very strong attention to detail. In helping us to plan and deliver our learning programs, you’ll focus on making sure that project plans are created and updated regularly, logistical arrangements are made with every detail considered, updates are communicated effectively to all stakeholders on a timely basis, and metrics are tracked and reported on appropriately.

Support L&D team with additional key projects as needed. We move fast and pivot quickly here, which means there will be plenty of opportunities to support different projects as they arise. You’ll partner with colleagues on initiatives such as the rollout of our new LMS, selection and implementation of LinkedIn Learning, and updating and organizing various learning-related resources and materials.

Learning & Development Expertise: Understanding of how people learn, ability to create engaging training content, ability to connect authentically with people of different backgrounds and learning styles, strong facilitation and coaching skills.

Planning & Management Skills: Strategic thinking, project management, event planning, vendor management. Plans, organizes, schedules and forecasts in an efficient, productive manner. Focuses on key priorities. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously

Speed & Agility: Able to quickly get up to speed in new areas and effectively take ownership of assigned programs. Knows how to balance taking the time to understand the dynamics and stakeholders of a situation with moving quickly into action when needed. Attuned to changing needs and circumstances, and able to pivot in new directions when appropriate.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Knowledgeable about DEI practices in an employee training context. Able to manage, discuss, and facilitate conversations on challenging topics with sensitivity.

Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across different audiences. Great story-teller/influencer. Comfortable working with senior leaders, working across teams/functions

Commitment to Quality: Strong focus on ensuring accuracy, double-checks work, verifies completion of deliverables, seeks out confirmation through peer review.

What You Bring

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in employee training or learning & development
  • Track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, high growth organization
  • Willingness to serve in a temporary capacity through April 2023
