Job Description
Grounds Keeper Lead
MAJOR FUNCTION:
This is Lead (working) work of a responsible nature in directing the work of assigned Equipment Operators performing grounds maintenance work in his/her area of responsibility. Work is performed under the general direction of a supervisor of higher level or the department Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1. Graduate of an accredited high school (two (2) years of higher education preferred). Waiver may be granted with a GED, recommendation from immediate supervisor, and additional grounds maintenance experience.
- 2. Two (2) years of previous supervisory experience preferred.
- 3. Two (2) years of experience in grounds maintenance work.
- 4. Must be able to dead lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and 100 pounds on a non-regular basis.
- 5. Must not have uncontrolled allergies to grass, pollen, dust, et Work performed is exposed to the sun on a constant basis.
- 6. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with individuals both written and orally.
- 7. Ability to interact with non-employees and residents in a professional manner.
- 8. Demonstrate the ability to prepare standard business letters, evaluation reports, and written reports for senior managers.
- 9. Must have at least a valid Florida Class “E” Driver License and must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
- 10. Minimum age 21.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Plans work and supervises the performance of assigned Equipment Operators.
- 2. Inspects assigned areas to insure work is accomplished properly and in a timely manner.
- 3. Responds to resident questions and complaints. Coordinates with management in the event of damage to residential or other property.
- 4. Assist in making recommendations for prevention or recurrence of incidents.
- 5. Counsels employees on work performance, standards, appearance, attitude and interaction with other employees or residents.
- 6. Coordinates with other supervisors in the execution of his/her mission. Assists other supervisors on an "as required" basis.
- 7. Trains assigned personnel in the proper use of all assigned equipment, operator maintenance, Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE), safety precautions, and proper reporting procedures for both incidents and equipment malfunction.
- 8. Maintain records, logs or other administrative procedures as required. Prepares employee evaluation reports, written counseling, letters and other correspondence.
- 9. Inspects all assigned equipment on a regular basis to insure proper working condition. Prepares work orders as required.
- 10. Performs the duties of an Equipment Operator when required.
- 11. Perform such additional duties and responsibilities as may be required by the needs of the department, the company and the community.
