Overview of Role:

FirstService Residential provides on-site property management to the Resident Associations and Board of Directors of an upscale development located in Sun City Center, FL. The on-site Landscape Specialist role will provide independent oversight of landscape contracts to ensure vendor compliance with the terms and conditions and to document overall performance on a daily basis, recommending corrective action when needed. The working environment is 90% outdoor supervision and 10% in an office and meeting rooms and the position is 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Prefer FNGLA (Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association) certification, or equivalent accreditation. If not certified upon start, must be willing to gain certification early in the role.
• Have direct experience in residential/commercial landscaping maintenance as a crew member or lead and/or supervisor of landscaping crews.
• Specific knowledge of the maintenance requirements and basic fertility needs for typical Florida Turfgrass strains, Florida plant and ornamental landscaping maintenance requirements, and proper practices for the care of all landscapes i.e. mowing, edging, pruning.
• Recognition of common degradation symptoms seen in turfgrass and landscaping shrubbery, ornamentals, and trees.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft suite products, Excel, Outlook, and Word in particular. iAuditor digital inspections.

Duties of Role:

• Daily inspection of Association landscaping, noting any contract variances and/or deficiencies in quality categories
• Meeting with Board Members on a routine basis to determine satisfaction with the landscape vendors
• Partner with the Vendors to help provide outstanding service and landscapes to the Associations
• Liaison between the landscape vendors and the Board
• Prepare weekly landscape grading scores based on select criteria
• Utilize the work order system for tracking and follow up on landscaping items from the Associations daily
• General office skills i.e. telephone, computer, filing, copying, scanning etc.
• Prepare reports and receive reports, organize, and securely file records
• Facilitate proper workflow for assigned documents and information

These duties highlight the importance of a well-organized and experienced Landscape Specialist and other related duties may be assigned. However, we will consider a well experienced landscape crew member who is willing to learn and grow within a high-profile role in the community. Knowledge of turfgrass, landscape practices, and plant and turf disease/wet/dry conditions is imperative for success in this role.
