JOB SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Manager partners with the Executive Vice President, managers, and supervisors of the assigned area, and serves as a consultant on Human Resources related issues. The HR Manager takes the lead in handling associate issues supporting the organization. This individual has primary responsibility for employee relations, talent management (including succession planning), HR administration, risk management, and compliance. The Human Resource Manager may also be responsible for other areas within HR, including leaves of absence, workers' compensation, leadership development, talent management, and benefits, along with an understanding of payroll.
Note: Ideal candidate will have strong employee relations background supporting multiple sites within a medium to large sized organization. Individual will support our Northern California Region (Sacramento, San Francisco, East Bay, South Bay) and will sit at our Gold River, CA. Regional Office.
Responsibilities
Partners with leadership in employee relations and ensures policies, procedures and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal, state, and local laws and regulations including the analysis, maintenance and communication of records and files required by law or local governing bodies or agencies, etc.
- Recruiting and retention of a high performing culture
- Partner with leaders and the Talent Acquisition team to identify, evaluate, and great talent for various roles within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure robust on-boarding plans to effectively integrate new associates.
- Analyze causes of turnover and suggest approaches to drive improvements in associate retention.
- Performance management and Employee Relations
- Educate and coach leaders on the performance management processes for developing associates' potential and rewarding competencies FirstService Residential needs to succeed.
- Team with supervisors to coach associates to maximize performance and to implement performance improvement plans with non-performing associates.
- Act as an advisor to managers on employment issues, promotions, performance issues and terminations.
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including all Ethics Hotline concerns. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Company Culture
- Coach leaders and associates on the FirstService company culture to support company goals and drive associate satisfaction and ensure the teams exemplifies our core values.
- Recommend organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives.
- Partner with leaders on associate engagement, including building and executing associate engagement plans based on the feedback from the Associate Engagement survey.
- Deliver on HR Metrics
- Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR Director to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders to guide decision-making. Effectively leverage technology to recommend how to streamline and enhance HR operations.
- Acquisitions/Takeover Business
- Partner with business leader to manage the HR side of takeover account integrations, including culture, change management, benefits, compensation, incentives, performance, organizational structure, communication, redundancies, policies, and others.
- Compliance with regulatory and legal matters
- Ensure local compliance with federal, state, and local labor law and reporting requirements, including EEO, ADA, FMLA, DOL, workers' compensation, DFEH, and OSHA.
- Work closely with HR Director in preparation of information or investigations required for compliance.
- Other duties as needed.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge/experience in Human Resources (minimum of 5 years)
- Master's Degree a plus.
- Specialized training in preventative labor relations and Human Resources management is required.
- Must possess broad knowledge of labor and employment law, wage and salary administration and well-developed administrative and communication skills.

- Ability to work under tight deadlines and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service and relationship building background/skills.
- As it will be necessary to drive to meetings and other locations, position must have a valid California Driver's License and State mandated vehicle insurance
