Summary
The Building Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems in a high-rise residential property. This role ensures the building remains safe, functional, and in optimal condition for residents. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, and building automation systems, along with a proactive, customer-service-oriented mindset.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assist with maintenance and repairs of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
Respond to work orders and service requests from residents and staff in a timely and professional manner.
Support preventive maintenance by performing routine inspections and logging completed tasks accurately.
Help maintain a safe and clean environment in mechanical areas and common spaces, and assist with vendor coordination as needed.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Technical certification in HVAC, electrical, or building systems preferred.
5+ years of experience as a building engineer, maintenance technician, or facilities professional, ideally in a high-rise setting.
Working knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), fire/life safety equipment, and energy management systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in various conditions.
Availability for on-call emergencies and occasional weekends or evenings.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Language Skills
The individual must have strong written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate effectively with employees and clients at all levels of the organization.

Physical Job Description
Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods throughout the day.
Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and reaching overhead.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance.
Manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Comfortable working in confined spaces, on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, and in varying weather conditions.
Ability to visually inspect equipment, read gauges and manuals, and perform detailed maintenance work.
Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations, including evacuations, system shutdowns, or alarm events.
Occasional use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, hard hats, respirators, and hearing protection.
Availability
Wednesday through Sunday from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm
