Job Summary

 

The part time Fitness Attendant provides customer service and janitorial duties to the fitness center. Additional scheduled days may be required from time to time. This position assists with special projects and other health promotion activities as needed. Understands the value and benefits as well as actively participates in fitness.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Staff the fitness center on weekends, some holidays and provide coverage when full-time attendant is off
  • Open and Close per advertised hours
  • Exhibits enthusiastic, friendly, and positive demeanor toward residents and their guests
  • Answers phones, confirms memberships, sells passes
  • Uses good judgment and professional attitude when vetting owners and guests
  • Monitor and answer email, maintain appointment scheduler and keep records
  • Follows safety procedures and maintains a safe work environment
  • Responsible for reporting and scheduling repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Responsible for cleaning the facility on a daily basis to include all equipment, floors, mirrors, mats, restrooms, saunas, and washing towels
  • Order and stock the retail items. Handle cash and reconcile sales.
  • Maintain an organized efficient workout space
  • Be a cooperative team player with the HOA staff.

Education & Experience

 

  • High School of GED and 1 year of experience in customer service or retail. Experience working in a health/fitness environment desired.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Proficiencies

 

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Punctuality
  • Dependability

Weights, exercise machines, cleaning tools, computer

 

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

 

  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk and climb stairs.
  • Handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Communicate, receive and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required by the job function.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
