Job Description

Associa is hiring an Event Communications Director to plan, coordinate, and promote activities and events at Kentlands Community Association in Gaithersburg, MD. The Event Communications Director ensures that people enjoy sports, fitness, and leisure facilities tothe fullest extent.

Daily responsibilities:

  • Work with community, instructors, site maintenance and other groups to ensure qualityexperiences.
  • Identify activities, coordinate site and instruction needs and ensure community programshappen as scheduled.
  • Plan, design, create, and facilitate events.
  • Update and manage the Events Calendar.
  • Market, advertise, and encourage participation in events.Send out email blasts and create flyers to advertise events.
  • Communicate with and promote events at the Kentlands Citizen Foundation.
  • Purchase, monitor and clean supplies and inventory to ensure event readiness.
  • Write content and update the biweekly newsletter to promote activities and events.
  • Contact vendors to advertise in news publications. Confirm advertising.Receive and review advertisements from vendors.
  • Update and manage emails and contact information.
  • Reserve and manage court reservations.
  • Schedule staff to work the Snack Bar during pool season.
  • Assist with administrative duties. Back-up the administrative assistant as needed. Answer phones, greet guests, and assist walk-ins.
  • Train part time Recreation Attendants.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • 3 + years of event planning and coordinating experience.
  • Professional communication (phone, interpersonal, written, verbal, etc.) and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, punctual, detail oriented and a team player.
  • Time management and time critical prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of software programs that enable mass communication and text messages to promote events.
