Essential Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Gather all soiled wares as need.
  • Sanitize all pots, pans, equipment, dishware, glassware, flatware and storage areas as directed by cooks and supervisors.
  • Put away clean wares.
  • Follow safe food handling and sanitation techniques.
  • Perform all side work and setup/breakdown duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of the kitchen and satellite kitchen to include all equipment, wall coverings and floors.
  • Assist with dining services deliveries to and from the health care center.
  • Assist with food preparation as needed including washing, cutting, preparing and clean up.
  • Receive and stock deliveries, practicing first in, first out rotation.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floor, service stations, walk-in refrigerator and freezer, and dry storage areas.
  • Empty and line all trash cans in the kitchen, satellite kitchen and dining areas as needed.
  • Maintain and record proper dish machine temperatures and sanitizer levels.
  • Perform tasks as assigned on cleaning schedule.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation practices.
  • Make sure there is a cleaning solution of quaternary sanitizer and water for towels in all prep stations.
  • Clean all workstations and equipment immediately after use.
  • Adhere to scheduled in time, break periods, and out time.
  • Follow all policies and procedures for the department and community.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings.
  • Comply with all federal, state and local regulations for the department.
  • Attend all mandatory training and ongoing training as requested.
  • Attend all mandatory department meetings.
  • Attend all mandatory all-staff meetings.
  • Know the safety goal(s) of the community.
  • Participate in and support the safety program regularly throughout the year.
  • Ensure to being knowledgeable in the use of the MSDS books and Emergency Preparedness manual.
  • Ensure to being knowledgeable of the specific responsibilities in the event of an emergency.
  • Participate at least annually in the associate satisfaction survey.
  • Respond to associate requests in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Provide great customer service to residents and visitors at all times.
  • Treat all residents with respect.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Prefer prior knowledge of proper food sanitation and safety.
  • Must have a valid San Diego County Food Handlers Card; administered on site.
  • Must be able to follow directions.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold, (0° F to 120°F).
  • Must be able to work all shifts as required.
  • Ability to perform duties in a team environment.
  • Must be professional in attitude, demeanor and dress.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and other qualifications may be considered.

Availability

Varied working hours to include days, evenings, weekends are required, and holidays as needed.

Working Environment

The AA/MC works in a well-lighted, clean environment. S/he constantly interacts with other people and may have to handle several responsibilities at once. The Association maintains a smoke-free environment in its offices and building common areas.
