What You’ll Do

The mission of the Director, Tax is to successfully lead the tax function, including overall tax planning and strategy, income tax accounting, compliance, non-income tax, and audits.

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of tax compliance and reporting for U.S. federal, state, local, GAAP, and SEC requirements by maintaining current knowledge of laws, regulations, accounting, and reporting standards, while advising management on needed actions
• Prepare quarterly and year-end tax provisions and disclosures
• Lead in preparation of workpapers and support for federal and state income tax returns
• Participate in tax M&A due diligence
• Direct identification and planning of tax issues related to state and local income and taxes
• Handling notices received from Federal and State tax authorities including audits
• Identify and resolve any tax-accounting related issues
• Coordinate, develop, issue, review and update tax accounting policies
• Research tax issues and changes to federal and state income tax legislation
• Assist with the implementation of system improvements to increase department efficiency and accuracy
• Manage the tax components of close procedures, including providing, including providing guidance for the preparation of tax journal entries and reconciliations
• Assist with annual internal and external financial audits and tax inquiries
• Designs and implements appropriate internal controls and documentation to ensure compliance with tax laws and the timely filing and payment of tax returns
• Ad hoc reporting and analysis, and other duties as assigned

Must-Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA required
• Minimum 12 years of experience in tax
• Experience working for public company, preferably SaaS
• Strong technical knowledge of US tax provisions and tax compliance programs
• Executive-level interpersonal communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and preparation and delivery presentations with an ability to translate the complex into easily understood and actionable language
