Job Overview
The Director of Client Accounting will be responsible for all aspects of the
client accounting department. The successful candidate should have
extensive accounting experience in property management accounting for
both CIRAs and rental properties.
In addition to the accounting experience, a proven track record in
leadership, staff development and retention, process improvement, and
oversight and review of client deliverables is required.
The Director of Client Accounting will report directly to the CFO and will also
work closely with the President of Client Operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversees client accounting teams including financial reporting,
budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking and payroll.
- Holds each department accountable to provide timely and accurate
deliverables. Our mission is to provide outstanding financial
accounting services.
- Provides leadership, support and training both within the accounting
department and property management teams.
- Constantly is looking for improvements in efficiencies and
improvement in processes within the department. In addition, ensures
that strong financial controls are in place.
- Oversees current client support and is heavily involved in the
onboarding of new clients to ensure a smooth transition.
- Creates processes to track/review reporting and other critical tasks
within the department to ensure deadlines are timely met.
- Works with internal IT and external vendors that support the
accounting software and other technology and services within the
client accounting department.
- Attends client presentations and financial related meetings on a per
needed basis.
Management Responsibilities:
- Develops a strong diverse team willing that understand the various
processes within the department to meet the financial needs of each
client.
- Provides one on one coaching and training to promote growth and
career paths for our team.
- Cultivates an open team environment and seeks feedback from the
team.
- Exemplifies commitment to our Core Values and holds self and others accountable
for completing leadership responsibilities and other tasks.
- Conducts on going performance management by constantly providing
positive and constructive feedback.
- Works closely with HR for hiring of team members as needed as well
as other HR related matters.
- Leads weekly team meetings with team and leadership to set rocks
and solve departmental issues.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related degree along with relevant work
experience.
- Seven (7) to twelve (12) years of experience in private/public accounting working in
the property management or other related industry
- Prior management experience with staff and the ability to apply that experience to a
wide range of client situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
- Essential and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Project management and time management skills.
- Ability to build productive cross-functional, collaborative working relationships.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage unexpected and sometimes urgent firm or
client matters as they arise.
- A general and growing knowledge of the services the company provides.
- Strong organizational skills
