Action Property Management is a privately held company that manages more high-rise residential buildings than any other management company in California. We have over a decade of experience offering exceptional residential building management to some of the most exclusive luxury high-rise properties in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, and San Diego.

Action is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Accounting to spearhead our Client Accounting Team, driving financial reporting, budgeting, and internal control initiatives for both internal and external stakeholders. As a leader in our finance department, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategies and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role is based out of our corporate office in Irvine, CA. Hybrid work model following training period.

Salary: up to $150,000.00 depending upon experience

Job Summary

This role is a key position within the company and the accounting team. The position will support various aspects of finance and accounting for our clients and requires solid accounting experience combined with strong analytical skills and an excellent customer service approach. The successful candidate will need to work well under pressure with quickly changing priorities and have experience managing a large and diverse team. The candidate will fit well in an environment that rewards bright, self-starting, energetic, focused individuals with ever increasing responsibility and challenges. The candidate will need to process strong problem solving skills, an exceptional work ethic, organizational skills, attention to detail, decision making skills, and the ability to work well with others at all levels of the company and within our clients. This position will support various aspects of the financial cycle including, but not limited to, working with managers and board members, assisting in various audits, and monitoring various metrics of the department to aid in daily operational decisions and ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee and enhance financial reporting, budgeting, and internal control protocols.
  • Mentor and guide the Accounting Team towards meeting monthly financial statements and annual budget deliverable dates.
  • Manage chart of accounts and maintain financial statements configuration within accounting software.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial packages, annual budgets, and annual reviews and audits.
  • Develop robust policies and procedures to uphold internal controls and ensure compliance with US GAAP and industry benchmarks.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of accounting operations to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Develop and oversee process improvements within the departments.
  • Lead complex budget and reporting projects, reconciliations, and data analyses, while providing support to internal and external clients.
  • Work with Community Managers and Board Members on financial projects and ad-hoc requests.
  • Monitor staffing needs balanced with growth and service level expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience and 5 years of experience directing a large team with a focus on mentoring, developing and motivating.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel and accounting software experience.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills for effective communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills coupled with strong communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • HOA accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of CA Davis Stirling Act
  • Experience with multiple accounting platforms
  • Strong technological skills
  • Experience with CINC is a plus
