Job Description

CAMS (Community Association Management Services), one of the fastest growing community association management companies in the southeastern US, is seeking a Director of Accounting Services in the Wilmington, NC area.

The CAMS Director of Accounting Services is a key operational role within the company. The primary responsibility of this role will be managing the Client Accounting team and ensuring on-time and accurate delivery of all contractually obligated accounting services to CAMS clients. The right candidate will build meaningful relationships within and outside the organization, and will work closely with Community Managers, key departmental heads, external specialists and service providers, Board members, and help maintain client relationships where applicable. Accounting Services include Financial Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Delinquency processing, Resale processing and new owner closings.

The Ongoing Objectives of This Position Will Include

  • Lead and manage a growing team of accounting services staff including in-person, remote, and hybrid team members and virtual employees
  • Ensure Association Client billing, payments, bank account management, delinquency processing, homeowner settlements, financial reporting, collections activities and related accounting services ~ are executed and managed (by the department leaders) in compliance with CAMS standards, and the CAMS accounting services team consistently fulfill all contractual deliverables accurately and on-time
  • Implement KPI’s and track productivity metrics to continually improve team efficiency and service quality for internal and external customers
  • Communicating and helping guide board members including providing virtual and onsite assistance during board meetings on an as-needed basis
  • Assist Community Managers with guidance, training and support
  • Coordinate with RVP and Training teams and with Vantaca or other external resources as required for the execution of tasks
  • Handle escalations and work to resolve issues with software or third-party integrations timely
  • Oversee treasury management services related to customer funds
  • Manage workload assignments to maximize efficiency across all departments while maintaining high standards of customer service and consistently meeting SLA’s and individual productivity metrics
  • Implement, enforce and manage audit protocols for all accounting tasks to ensure ongoing internal quality control and continuous improvement
  • Direct the Accounting tasks associated with the onboarding of new clients, ensure that tasks required for client onboarding via acquisitions are properly coordinated across all accounting functions
  • Ongoing development and review of processes to improve CAMS Accounting operations and accuracy
  • Work with team members to train applicable individuals on company processes and ensure process compliance.

Requirements

  • Strong GAAP and full-cycle accounting process knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and master new software programs
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate with clients in a professional, positive, and constructive way
  • Comfortable with public speaking and leading a meeting
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, projects and workload
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment
  • Ability to build successful client relationships

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of Accounting experience
  • Management experience supervising multiple reporting employees
  • Understanding of fund accounting
  • Experience in the HOA management industry
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, projects, and workload

Benefits and Salary

The position is full-time, Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The salary range for this position is up to $85,000 annually with bonus opportunities and is determined by the candidate's qualifications listed above.
