Job Description

If you are a proven data & analytics superstar, this is a unique opportunity to make a significant strategic impact on a fast-growing market leader where technology meets real estate. You will be the primary data architect for our Azure Cloud Data Warehouse and Analytics environment with a strong focus on data modeling.

 

What you’ll do

You will be responsible to lead the design & implementation of an Azure Analytics Platform by participating in all phases of the solution lifecycle with a strong focus on data warehouse/modeling. Your goal will be to deliver high quality solutions that meet the needs of multiple business stakeholders. You'll be involved in all aspects of the development processes, including testing, troubleshooting and support activities. It is essential that you promote an environment of open communication and actively convey progress, challenges to making progress, and enhancement suggestions. We have team members throughout the country and internationally, and your ability to successfully collaborate with remote colleagues will be key. Although you'll work a typical Monday-Friday schedule, there may be occasional meetings that are conducted in the evening or early morning to accommodate other time zones.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the data warehouse architecture, data modeling, design, and implementation, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data structures, and data quality control mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including data analysts, business users, and Technology teams, to gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Design and implement data integration and data management strategies to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness of data across different systems and data sources.
  • Support implementing data governance policy and committee actions and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and privacy, and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and oversee the implementation of data warehouse solutions, including hardware and software selection, configuration, and optimization.
  • Define and implement performance tuning strategies to optimize the data warehouse system's performance, scalability, and availability.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging data warehouse technologies, platforms, and tools to enhance the data warehouse architecture and meet evolving business needs.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to data warehouse developers and other Technology teams, including mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, such as data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and technical specifications.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices related to data warehouse architecture, data modeling, and data management.
  • Ensures that divisional data and reporting assets are catalogued, documented, and maintained.
  • Supports other Technology Division employees in related duties and functions as required.
  • Serves as technical expert to internal/external contacts in all matters of Data Governance and Data Security.
  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing and cross training to ensure that the division has a backup for all essential tasks and responsibilities.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in data warehouse and modeling for Enterprise level data
  • Proficiency in SQL based data discovery, data conversion and advanced data modeling techniques.
  • Proficient in Azure and AWS
  • Expert level knowledge of Azure data tools and Azure Datalake
  • Knowledge of data modeling and data lineage tracking tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server
  • Work variable hours, to include emergency response to outages.
  • Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services. Acts with customers in mind. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
  • Knowledge of budget development/analysis, and operational cost factors.
