We are looking for a Data Analyst to be the Single Point Owner (SPO) of all things product and business analytics for FolioGuard; Appfolio’s Renter’s Insurance business. This role will support the FolioGuard product leadership through enterprise-level Analytics. They will execute thoughtful data analysis using SQL, Python and/or R to discover product improvement opportunities while building tracking and ongoing measurement for KRs, initiatives, and feature launches. They will be the builder and maintainer of data assets such as dashboards, analyses, and reports that provide key business insights. Your impact

  • Be the Single Point Owner (SPO) for FolioGuard analytics
  • Become a subject matter expert on the FolioGuard business and data
  • Use and monitor KPIs and raise suggestions, concerns, ideas for how to grow the business based off of data
  • Champion and own data accuracy for FolioGuard
  • Participate in the product and engineering meetings to stay informed and aligned on strategic initiatives, product and feature enhancements, and represent the needs and capabilities of analytics
  • Bring the business context and history of FolioGuard into data-driven analyses
  • Be familiar with logic and query-sets to obtain KPIs, while reviewing historic data values, throughout the FolioGuard metric suite
  • Partner closely with Product Team members to answer business critical questions and drive our product pipeline through KPI and funnel creation
  • Deliver actionable insights to drive impactful business decisions
  • Share back analysis results to technical and non-technical stakeholders, in a clear and accurate way to support data driven decision-making
  • Create easy to understand readouts, including presentations, dashboards and write ups to walk through data analyses and explain analysis insights
  • Discover actionable insights for product optimization through customer journey and customer cohort analyses
  • Assist the Growth Data Scientist in delivering data-driven hypotheses for high ROI investments in our FolioGuard business
  • Leverage SQL, Python or R skills to investigate datasets and explain customer behavior
  • Build data assets that monitor business and product performance and provide insights to drive growth
  • Build data models in DBT that join, combine and filter data from multiple sources into tables that can be used in a Tableau/Excel/Python presentation layer
  • Build and maintain health of business dashboards that track product adoption, usage, and revenue
  • Use tools like Tableau, Python, Excel to clean, transform, and synthesize data
  • Ideate, design, and build new ways of tracking and analyzing FolioGuard performance
  • Create complex and insightful Data Products to help support actionable business outcomes based on data analysis results
  • Build and maintain financial driver assets that are used by partners in finance for monthly forecasting rituals
  • Drive continued evolution in how we visualize and present data through our data assets

Qualifications

  • Business acumen – understands key challenges facing our business and partners with key stakeholders to find creative ways to apply data science to solve them; connects dots between data & business outcomes
  • Data Analytics skills – able to identify, measure, model, and impact the important metrics needed to manage and monitor the FolioGuard business. Additionally able to build Tableau dashboards, launch exploratory analyses, deploy clustering models and run A/B tests.
  • Attention to detail – appropriately checks all work for errors and does not let important details slip when it comes to data and its accuracy
  • Creative problem solving - able to use creativity and curiosity as tools to pick apart any problem, producing a solution which is relevant and realistic
  • Efficiency – able to quickly iterate on data generation and refinement. Looks for ways to improve processes to maximize efficiency and remove redundancy

Must have

  • Strong mathematics, statistics, analytical and problem solving skills - either from a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 1 years of work experience in a Data Analytics role.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in a business setting
  • Strong SQL, Python, Tableau and Excel skills required
  • Ability to support, work and communicate with a fast, cross-functional team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Listening and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate ideas in both technical and business terms
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in DBT
  • Experience with Web/App analytics practices and tools such as Mixpanel
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce
  • Experience in one or any of the following:
    • DTC digital products
    • Insurance business
    • B2B SaaS


Compensation & Benefits

The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $83,000 - 125,000

The actual base salary/hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.

Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
