Purpose

The Tax Analyst position exists to provide essential support to the Tax Department by ensuring accurate and timely federal and state income tax compliance, assisting with tax provision calculations, and contributing to process improvements. This role enhances the team’s capacity to manage diverse tax matters, strengthens internal expertise, and supports strategic tax planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for corporations and partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain supporting workpapers for annual tax provisions.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities.
  • Support the preparation and filing of property tax, business license, and sales & use tax returns.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
  • Research tax issues and stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and provide timely updates.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including senior management, branch presidents, and accounting teams, to provide clarity and support around financial results.
  • Manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely completion of all accounting tasks and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate proactive critical thinking skills, identifying root causes of discrepancies or inefficiencies and implementing effective solutions to improve processes and accuracy.
  • Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate support for external and internal audits.

Requirements

Education / Experience Required:

Education / Work Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Accountancy or related field.
  • CPA eligibility or progress toward certification (preferred).Combination of public and industry experience is a plus.

Skills / Other Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in public accounting or a similar tax-focused role.
  • Solid understanding of federal and state income tax laws.
  • Experience with CCH Axcess or comparable tax preparation software.
  • Proficiency in tax compliance and preparation processes.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret tax regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong customer orientation with the ability to communicate effectively with previous company owners and their accounting teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
