Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role within the accounting team, supporting various financial and accounting functions across the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting, coupled with excellent analytical skills. Success in this role requires a proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized individual with strong problem-solving abilities, sound decision-making skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.

Responsibilities include supporting the financial cycle by working closely with managers, assisting with audits, and monitoring key business metrics to inform operational decisions. The Senior Staff Accountant will also perform core accounting tasks such as journal entries, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and accruals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting work papers, performing account reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger
  • Review work prepared by staff accountants and help implement efficiencies in their work papers
  • Identify and implement improvements in the accounting processes, work papers, and reporting
  • Provide support with the implementation of new accounting system and lead ad hoc accounting projects as they arise
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Review and analyze financial data for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
  • Support external audits and tax filings
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes
  • Assist in financial planning and strategy development
  • Assist with accounting department responsibilities as needed

Self Development

  • Participate in designated training programs to enhance knowledge and skills. Attends all scheduled training and informational sessions, monthly meetings, cascade training calls and other meetings as assigned.

Work Environment

  • This is a hybrid position based out of our corporate office located in Irvine. Must be available to work in the office at least 2x per week or as needed to deliver high level of excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred)
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Experience with financial audits and tax preparation
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
