Who Are We Looking For?

An aspiring Data professional working to grow AppFolio’s Data Platform to meet evolving business needs, in partnership with Data Analytics, Data Science, Product, Finance, and more. You will support data pipeline management and operations, drive alignment via documentation, create best practice frameworks, and partner with the broader Analytics Engineering team to improve Analytics efficiency and effectiveness at AppFolio. You will have the opportunity to receive mentorship and direction from a strong group of Analytics Engineers, all the while growing your own skill set and knowledge base as it relates to the work supporting AppFolio’s Data Platform. You’ll directly contribute each day to ensuring AppFolio’s data systems meet their full potential to drive top-line growth in a sustainable fashion.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure daily/weekly/monthly data pipeline processes are running smoothly, resolving any issues within 8 business hours or less
  • Provide vital support to the dbt initiative within the Analytics organization - document and align the team on best practices & support the admin/training/development for new users
  • Collaborate to build new data pipelines and ensure all user requests for new developments within existing pipelines are prioritized and met effectively by the team
  • Collaborate to build the initial set of data models within dbt, including the initial set of Semantic Layer data models
  • Cross-train other Analytics Engineering-capable employees across the business on how to use our tools and build within them successfully
  • Ensure the delivery of business critical data by stewarding month-end and quarter-end processes
  • Own and drive collaboration/engagement with the data documentation efforts across the AE-owned data within Snowflake
  • Complete ad-hoc reporting and analytics projects to support business functions across AppFolio

Must-Haves

  • BS or higher in STEM field
  • Professional experience in Data Analytics and/or Data Engineering
  • Experience with Data Modeling Some Python experience, particularly in the realm of APIs and data movement
  • Strong SQL skills (Snowflake Experience preferred)
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience in Data Pipeline/ETL maintenance and management helpful Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, CloudWatch, SQS, Lambda) helpful
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience partnering directly with Cross-Functional Teams Listening and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate ideas in both technical and business terms
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Solutions-Oriented mindset, with demonstrated ability to utilize tools/technologies to solve tough problems
