The Assistant Harbor Master is a leader in creating great experiences for our residents and guests by providing a high level of customer service and lake safety education. They perform both administrative and supervisory duties that oversee the lake and staff. This position will work closely with the Harbor Master to plan, coordinate, and manage the daily operations of watercraft rentals and lake patrol.
About The Community
Daybreak is a large-scale, master-planned community nestled in the valley of the Wasatch Mountain Range. We currently have roughly 7,800 homes and at build out will have 20,000. Daybreak has multiple parks and exciting amenities to keep our residents entertained. The new Trax route recently opened and provides public transportation right from Daybreak into Salt Lake City! This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a growing community!
What You’ll Accomplish
- Assisting with the supervision of the recreational use of the lake and staff
- Maintaining orderly and safe boating conditions and enforcing local ordinances
- Assisting the Harbor Master with staff schedules and lake attendant rotations
- Learning to drive and maintain the electric Duffy Boat
- Engaging in cleaning and maintenance and repair activities
- Cleaning beach areas and watercraft
- Inspecting equipment and surrounding areas for damages and safety concerns
- Setting up equipment for daily use and keeping staff on task
- Assisting the Harbor Master to develop and train seasonal staff
- Enforcing all Lake rules and regulations
What We’re Looking For
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Availability to work weekends and holidays
- Upbeat personality that enjoys engaging with people and working outside
- Ability to remain calm and friendly when interacting with residents and guests
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions
- Experience or interest in outdoor education, natural resources, and / or recreation management
- Boating / Watercraft operation experience preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
