Assistant Maintenance Manager – The Springs, Parkville, MD
WPM is seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Maintenance Manager to join our service team at The Springs in Parkville, MD. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations of the property. You’ll play a key part in mentoring the service team, coordinating with contractors, managing work orders, and ensuring resident satisfaction.
📅 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
💵 Compensation: $29 per hour (based on experience)
Essential Functions
- Perform electrical work including installing lamps, ballasts, fixtures, and repairing switches, outlets, and circuits.
- Troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues such as backups, toilet repairs/replacements, garbage disposal installations, and faucet or pipe repairs.
- Complete carpentry tasks such as door replacements, shelving installation, floor refinishing, siding repairs, and woodwork.
- Repair or replace broken glass, tile, carpet, screens, fixtures, appliances, and locks.
- Prepare units for move-ins and assist with move-in/move-out procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance shop.
- Assist with groundskeeping, snow removal, and other outdoor tasks as needed.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform painting and drywall repairs.
- Mentor and support service staff by serving as a professional role model.
- Assist the Service Manager with additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for minor electrical issues.
- Availability for on-call emergency coverage (evenings, weekends, holidays).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
- Ability to safely work on ladders and lifts up to 85 feet.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3–5 years of property maintenance experience required.
- HVAC certification strongly preferred.
