The Agrihood Farmer is a key part of our master-planned community and will play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the on-site farm, gardens and general store.
What you’ll accomplish:
- Supporting the Farm Director in all aspects of vegetable, fruit and herb production, including but not limited to; seeding, planting, pest, disease and fertility management, field cultivation, irrigation planning, installation and repairs, harvesting and post-harvest handling
- Keeping accurate records
- Upholding product and food safety standards
- Managing on-site CSA pick-ups
- Maintaining farm infrastructure and landscape with support from contracted vendors
- Ensuring general store, barn, gardens and surrounding areas are well maintained
- Leading gardening related workshops and farm to table events
- Providing tours
- Assisting management team with events as needed
What we’re looking for:
- At least 1 year organic vegetable production experience
- Enthusiasm for local and sustainable agriculture
- A problem solver, willing to learn and open to feedback
- Excellent people skills with an upbeat personality
- High degree of customer service and effective communication skills
- Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, stand for extended periods of time and move up to 50 pounds
- Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn new tasks
- Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
If driving is, or becomes, a requirement of the role, it is required, at all times, that you hold a valid state driver’s license for the class of vehicle you are driving, maintain a clean motor vehicle report, and hold current automobile insurance at statutory limits. You must notify People Operations immediately regarding any change to your motor vehicle standing. CCMC may periodically review motor vehicle reports to ensure compliance with these requirements.
The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:
- Mobility: Ability to walk the grounds long distances in various weather conditions.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifting and carrying supplies or equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Extended Sitting or Standing: Capability to sit or stand for extended periods during meetings or events.
- Manual Dexterity: Skills in using technology, including computers and mobile devices.
- Driving: Ability to operate vehicle to perform certain job functions. (Please note: We will request and review an MVR at the time of hire and on a periodic basis thereafter to ensure that employees maintain a satisfactory driving status.)
