Our amazing Team Focused property management firm is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to join us. We are a company centered around family values and work/life balance.

This position is responsible for all the accounting functions of a portfolio of properties. The accounting functions include but are not limited to monthly review of invoices, preparation and review of financial statements, month-end close, and reporting. This position will also work closely with the lead staff accountants to ensure all accounts are current and deliverables are met, internal leadership as necessary.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statement preparation on a GAAP for all entities to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assisting in month-end closing duties and ensuring that all are done timely and accurately.
  • Manage the accounting process for all portfolio properties; this includes maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the entries within the subledger, journal entry preparation and bank account reconciliations.
  • Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure.
  • Monitor and analyze your own work to develop more efficient procedures while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Provide assistance on various ad-hoc requests and work on special projects as needed.
  • Manage, analyze, and audit resident and subsidy ledgers to ensure they are billed correctly each month for all portfolio properties.
  • Analyze and research monthly budget variance reporting and preparation of customized reporting for asset management, investor, lenders, etc.
  • Review operating and reserve cash balances monthly to determine need and sources of funds.
  • Prepare funding requests as needed to cover shortfalls in operating expenses as needed.
  • Accurately record income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities monthly.
  • Assist with preparation of year-end work paper packages for audits and tax returns to be provided to outside CPAs. Works closely with CPA to insure timely and accurate completion of returns.
  • Review AP/AR including accounts payable batches for proper coding and approvals, supporting documents, etc.
  • Preparing replacement reserve draw requests by setting up payback schedules as needed.
  • Researching problems as required and work with the appropriate teams to get the problem corrected.
  • Assist in annual budget process with CAM & controller.
  • Assist with responses to external auditors’ data requests and questions.
  • Assess in documenting and streamlining current practices and procedures; make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Answer questions on monthly financials statements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or 7 years of accounting work experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with dedication to driving and achieving results.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, expected to communicate with internal and external, including other departments, external, auditors, board of directors.
  • Ability to accurately research and follow through on complex problem-solving items, as well as initiate resolutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, and effectively meet deadlines working on multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • A commitment to continuous operational improvement.
  • Highest level of integrity and honesty.
  • Highly proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, follow through, and organize work projects to ensure efficiency.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills; must be able to confidently deal with aa wide diversity of people.
  • Ability to develop and sustain positive and cooperative working relationships with a broad variety of managers, clients, CAMs and board of directors.
