Job Description

CAMS (Community Association Management Services), one of the fastest growing community association management companies in the southeastern US, is seeking an Accounting Manager that is able to work remotely as long as you are in NC or SC. There are rare instances where you would need to report to the headquarter office located in Wilmington, NC. Travel will be minimal,

 

The CAMS Accounting Manager is a key operational role within the company. The primary responsibility is to lead a group of accounting professionals and ensure accurate, on-time production of monthly financial reports for community associations contracted with CAMS. The right candidate will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods to ensure consistency and accuracy within the department. The right candidate is also adept at interpersonal interactions and will work closely with Community Managers, key departmental heads, and will help maintain client relationships.

 

*AR and AP are separate functional areas that do not fall under the Accounting Manager’s supervision

 

The Ongoing Objectives of This Position Will Include

  • Leading a cross-functional, cross-regional team of Accounting Professionals
  • Mentoring, training and coaching your team to be results-oriented
  • Ensuring on-time, accurate financial delivery for over 1200 Community Associations with a team of 10-15 accounting professionals
  • Engaging with internal and external audit teams to support annual audit activities
  • Preparing technical accounting reports to show progress and trends for your team
  • Collaborating and working with internal and external teams to include auditors, banking professionals, board members in associations that are managed by CAMS, CAMS Community Managers and Regional Vice Presidents, Accounting Service Managers, and Accounts Payable Teams
  • Assisting with special projects as needed
  • Filling in when needed to ensure on time deliverables are met
  • Ability to organize work and develop workflows for process efficiency and accuracy
  • Managing customer deliverables

 

The Well-Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following Traits

  • Technical proficiency in accounting
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, develop and encourage feedback
  • Strong proficiency in computer skills, MS Excel, adaptability of learning new software programs
  • Ability to meet deadlines, high sense of accountability for yourself and the team
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional and cross-regional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise and well-organized manner

 

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or General Business Management
  • 5+ years management experience
  • Ability to learn quickly and independently
  • Data management skills, advanced skillset in Excel
  • Technological skill, ability to quickly and adeptly learn new software platforms
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate with clients in a professional, positive and constructive way; comfortable with public speaking and leading a meeting
  • Exceptional communication skills and an innovative problem-solving personality
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, projects and workload
  • Previous HOA accounting experience a plus

 

Benefits and Salary

The position is full-time, Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications listed above. Starting rate is $70,000.
