Job Description

The Rental Accounting Specialist is an accounting support position in a fast-paced centralized accounting services environment. The Rental Accounting Specialist for rentals processes owner and vendor payments for three islands working closely with corporate controller and reports to the principal broker.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure invoices are properly coded and recorded correctly, including appropriate documentation.
  • Ensure accurate timely and accurate payment to vendors/owners.
  • Process all bank request forms (stop payments, voids, reversals, reissues, and requests for check copies).
  • Monitor cash balances, positive pay and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • New vendor vetting and set up.
  • Monitor tenant rents and calculate prorated rent.
  • Monitor delinquency and process 5 Day Pay or Quit.
  • Monthly journal entries.
  • Financial Reporting- Prepare and review timely monthly and quarterly financial statements.
  • Preparing Owner specific requests and requirements as they arise, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Evaluate, analyze, and prioritize data in various forms and formats.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures (US GAAP).
  • Knowledge of cash and accrual accounting.
  • General Excise filing.
  • Skill in the maintenance and control of appropriate data collection and record keeping systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at a proficient level.
  • AppFolio experience preferred but will train.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques at a proficient level.
  • Professional customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented and a team player.
  • Time management and time critical prioritization skills.
  • Full time position.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a whatever it takes attitude.

  • Associate Degree preferred
  • 3+ years of related accounting experience
