Job Description:

The accountant is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate association financial records. This includes preparing the financial reports on an accrual basis by reviewing and analyzing the financial data and entering required journal entries, as well as maintaining the general ledger and all applicable supporting schedules. This position is trusted with the association financial data and will be required to examine the data to make sure that all financial records are accurate and presented in a timely manner within established deadlines. Also responsible for assisting management with interpretation of financial data and explanation of financial records, and interfacing with the Board of Directors as needed.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain association general ledger and other financial records with multiple operating entities.
  • Prepare the financial reports by reviewing and analyzing the financial data received from the company and/or external contractors, and consolidate as needed.
  • Prepare journal entries for payroll transactions, accrued income or expenses, reclasses and other miscellaneous items.
  • Analyze GL accounts, budget variances, and projections variances, and request adjustments as needed.
  • Generate financial analysis statements including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and actual to budget and prior year variance analysis. Interpret financial records.
  • Work closely with clients, vendors, manager, a/p processor, finance committee and board members.
  • Provide technical and financial reporting guidance and knowledge to others including department managers and board members as needed.
  • Identify, research, resolve and communicate accounting, auditing, and operational issues.
  • Work with various personnel in all departments on issue resolution.
  • Collect and provide information for audit inquiries and give assistance to auditors.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial management, budgeting, and accounting.

 

Requirements

  • Must have knowledge and proficiency in Finance, Accounting, Budgeting and Cost Control Principles including accounting principles, practices, and procedures (US GAAP.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.) at a proficient level.
  • Minimum 5 years Full Cycle Accounting experience, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting or Finance major preferred.
